Hey, I am actually in the same boat, I have been doing some research and I narrowed it down to Lenovo Y570 and ASUS G53 series, with Lenovo Y570, you can get a quad core i7 is just under 1000$, and it will play Starcraft 2 and I assume Diablo 3, when it is released. It features GT 555m, which is pretty good, but if you are willing to shell out extra 300$, to just 1300$, you can get G53, with much stronger GTX 460m and 1980x1080, full HD.
