Hello People!
So I bought this laptop ( http://us.acer.com/ac/en/US/content/model/NX.MBKAA.029 ), and I was wondering if it was possible to connect a firewire cable anywhere to this. Maybe HDMI? I am aware off the ports it has with the addition of this: http://store.acer.com/store/aceramer/en_US/pd/ThemeID.3....

I'm not an electrical engineering expert (or novice for that matter) but I do know that firewire streams data with an IEEE-1394 controller. I just don't know if any converter will manage this.

Any help is appreciated. Thanks!

I did some research on that product, and I have doubts that it will work. A usb sends data over packets, and the firewire port streams data. That's provably why that product is rated 1.5 stars. I'm looking to stream clear audio.

USB3.0 is a full duplex bus; USB2.0 and earlier are only half-duplex. This means that you get significantly less jitter due to handovers in which direction the data is flowing.

USB's Isochronous mode is designed for audio/video, but there's no guarantee that a firewire converter actually uses it and not bulk transfer.

I can't really say whether anything will work.
