A laptop that has no purpose!

Hello,
I am having some doubts about making something out of an old acer laptop.
The laptop has a low powered intel atom processor (n450) and 1gb of ram.
I wanted to make it as a media center computer dedicated only to films for my tv but since the tv is using HDMI and the laptop VGA i think i can't do it,
So i want to ask you guys out there what should i do out of this laptop, since i don't have what to do with this anymore.
Give me some examples and if you can explain me how to do it,(loosely)

1GB of RAM is barely enough to run an OS beyond Windows XP, you may have trouble playing back stuff above 480p on that. I'd say it falls in the realm of computers not worth bothering with unless you have very specific lightweight uses for it.

Those laptops struggle to even play 720p youtube so basically not worth bothering with.

There comes a time in most electronics...where it no longer makes sense to try to use it for anything semi-mainstream.
For this laptop, that point was several years ago.


You could install a minimal Linux distro, and use it for hobby purposes.
But an HDTV is out of its reach.
