Hi,

Recently, about a third of the screen of my Padfone 2 stopped working, see https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cfhoG4XHJyw&feature=youtu.be

As you can see, the bottom third of the screen doesn't light up with the rest but picks up the colors from above after some times. I've actually notice that the color of the lines on the non-working part of the screen depends on the colors of the working part (I moved an app around on the home screen and it changed the lines under it). Also, the tactile input still works on the whole screen.

The cause might be that I kind of stepped on it.

I'm posting this here because it looks like the screen still works but it gets the wrong information so I'm not sure what to change to fix it. So my question is: what can the cause of this behaviour be? The screen? Some "cable"? I can open the phone and post pictures if needed.

Thank you in advance.

Okay, I've had personal experience with this one.

The digitizer is broken on the bottom portion of the panel. Now, you have either the option to take it to a repair shop or fix it yourself. However, these aren't exactly cheap for a phone like the Padphone.

This kit comes with a replacement screen and digitzer assembly, couldn't find just the digitzer. In terms of tools, you should be able to use any all-purpose Iphone/Galaxy S tool kit. They sell them on amazon.

I sure hope this helps!!

Thank you for you answer.

My googling seems to indicate that the "digitalizer" is the thing that detects your finger on the screen and transmits that information to the phone. So how can it be broken if input still works on the whole screen?

I also forgot to mention something: When I put it in the padfone station, everything works fine.
