Question About those Samsung Rings

I hope this is the correct forum. It says Wearables Smart Watches but those Samsung Rings are about as close as I can get since they seem to collect the4 same information. I have some real concerns about the data that either the watches, and/or the rings collect.

Much of the types of information gathered could be considered to be HIPPA, or HIPPA-Sensitive si
nce they are apparently collecting it for some form of self-diagnostics predicated upon health data that they have collected, collated and combined in a health-related system of records. Some of the information collected may be of a nature that is indicative of a need for medical care, or representative of a disease that might potentially require care by a healthcare provider, i.e. an M.D./D.O. who is familiar with the ramifications of sleep disorders, or information collected during an exercise period that would otherwise be referred to an urgent care, or emergency department for immediate follow up, i.e. AFIB or similar anomaly.

I know that other data collection devices, e.g. that collect data report it in a format that can be retransmitted to the appropriate medical facility as might be specified by an end user, e.g. by use of their cellular telephone device (reported in a processed data form, not in a raw data form), and as a result thereof might suggest that an immediate consult be obtained from either an urgent care, or emergency care facility as prescribed by an end user's healthcare professional.

Further, even when an end -use is being seen by their primary healthcare physician or clinic, information derived from a watch/ring or other wearable may be of significance to your PHP. Has anyone experienced such issues, e.g. a wearable indicating a "Sleep Disorder" or patter, or a change in a cardiac, or circulatory anomaly of sufficient significance so as to creating a concern that might be raised, even if only during a routine physical examination?

T
here must be some use to the data, or why would one seek to collect it. And if the data does represent a significant issue such as to become reported within a medical record, shouldn't the baseline, or raw data thence become subject to HIPPA protections?

They can sell it. Even in aggregate, it/you are worth 'money'.

HIPAA? Somewhere in the terms of service, you are granting them specific permission to do what they want with that info.
