Acer Aspire 5335 laptop black screen on power up

I have acquired an Acer Aspire 5335 Laptop which will power up but the screen is completely black, no activity at all. I have tried differnet memory and a different hard drive but still a black screen. The fan is working so I am not sure whether this a motherboard. I don't know whether to buy another CPU or could it be an issue with the laptop screen.Can't boot into bios or safe mode

I have just tried that and still nothing.
I have had the hard drive and the memory in another laptop so I have ruled that out. Should I buy another CPU to try that?

Before buying the CPU, try with just the motherboard, the RAM and the adapter, try to boot with an external monitor.

I have tried with just the motherboard, removing the CPU and it does power up but the fan doesn't spin

Unfortunately not.The copper shims did work temporarily but back to square one with it now
