My friend broke his screen on his Aspire 5517, so I went and ordered a new one and I installed it and then it went boot it. And got the black screen of death. So before I went out and bought a new screen I decided to do some research and come to find out the common Acer problem. Apparently updating the BIOS should fix it and I've done that and I'm having the same issue. So I ordered Too new screen and then those two was having the same issue so I ordered another one at this point I spent over $75 on screens and that one was having the same issue. So I was able to sell the other three screens that appear to have the same issue and got my money back, but I still need to know what is wrong with it. he said it's not that big of a deal if it's unfixable but he would like it to be fixed so he can have it as a backup. And he said it was not having this problem before. Google is not helping either. (Update) I took the keyboard off and hit the power button and noticed that the fan would spin for about 3 to 5 Seconds and then stop and not come back on.
