Hi, I have an Acer Aspire 5575G

Upon powering up the power up light turns on; the fan starts and then it switches off. The damage was caused by the charging lead being pulled out whilst the laptop was on.

I have checked the following.

- Power reset (removing battery and power lead separately and pressing power button for 1 minute)

- Charger - charging light comes on.

- Battery – is new

- RAM (swopped out one of the memory sticks hoping they both haven’t gone)

- BIOS reset by replacing battery.

Is it the motherboard next, and if so what to try first?

If the charging port is on it's own daughter board you can try replacing that. That looks to be a model from 2012, it will probably be cheaper and more sure to get a working used same model and swap your drive into it.

Or upgrade to a newer system, a used one from a few years ago should not cost much more than finding the same model of buying a motherboard.

An option I like to use is the Best Buy (or any vendor you like) 0% interest payment plan, you can pick up a new system with a warranty for the cost of a few McDonalds meals a month https://www.bestbuy.com/site/msi-mo...emory-512gb-ssd-black/6437744.p?skuId=6437744...
