Acer Aspire not shutting down just stuck on logging off

my Acer Aspire only shuts down by holding down the power button. pressing shut down on screen closes to the "logging off" screen. But sticks there!

Does it actually display "Shut Down" as an option, or "Log Off"? In Windows 7, the "Shut Down" button can be customized by right clicking on it, selecting "Properties", then selecting an option on the "Power button action:" drop down menu.
