Acer Aspire with i5-3210M undervolting to prevent overheating?

Hey guys.

I'm having troubles with my Acer Aspire V3-571G overheating quickly even when idling. I've recently opened it, cleaned everything and applied new thermal paste. While this helped a litte, the laptop still tends to overheat rapidly, even when just browsing.

I've read somewhere that undervolting the CPU and/or the graphics card can help erase that problem almost entirely. But i don't know at all how to do that.

My Bios version is the UEFI 2.7. Graphics card is the Nvidia Geforce GT 640M.


If anybody knows how to undervolt cpu or graphics card, any help would be greatly appreciated!

I would suggest you first try running software to determine if there is anything going on (fan speed, etc.) that is the cause. There are quite a few programs out there that can do this, and many of them are free, or free to try.

I would suggest doing that first, before trying to make changes.

Also, is your fan running at the right speed, all the time? If it isn't, it may be going, then that would be another cause.
