Acer or Dell gaming laptop?

I'm trying to figure which laptop would be better for me. The Alienware Dell offers or one of Acer Aspire laptops. I've been trying to find a laptop that is best for my needs as a gamer and college student and best for my money and hopefully a payment plan.

I think we'll be able to give a more definite answer if you specify a budget. Getting an acer will save you a few bucks, but I haven't used a dell laptop lately so I won't know the workmanship difference between the two. Alienwares have a reputation to be overpriced as well. As you need it for your college work as well, you will probably need something portable but well powered. Alienwares that I have seen are bulky and heavy.

Go for the latter, but specify a budget to further help you.

My budget is anything below 1,000. I know it's not much money for some laptops. but it's as much as I can pull together.
