Acer power cord problems

Hi,
I have an Acer 5535 and my power cord isn't charging my laptop when I plug it in, and the light isn't coming on for the charger itself. I think it may have short-circuited. Is there anyway to fix this, or do I have to buy a new charger?

Usually when a charger goes out, you have to buy a new one, unless it's still under warranty (i.e. 1 year factory warranty) or you have an extended warranty.

I was thinking it may have a recall on the cord.
