Acer Switch 10 No Display - New machine

Hi, I have hold of my mothers Acer Switch 10. It was purchased in jan 2015 and has never been used other than setting it up when she first got it. It went back in the box and that's where it has stayed. Just got it out to get running for her again and the screen is just black. It charges ok, and if I touch a button I can hear it working, but the screen is absolutely dead, no backlight, nothing. Any suggestions?

Try this...

1. Turn off the laptop.
2. Connect an external display.
3. Power on the external display.
4. Turn on the laptop.
5. Can you see the desktop, etc., on the external monitor?
5a. If yes, then you need to check the ribbon cable to the attached display. If it is not that, then the display may need replacing.
5b. If no, then your graphics card is probably the problem.

I see. That would be a necessary step in checking if it is the graphics card.
