Acer Travelmate 2702WLCI doesn't work

It's my wife's old laptop and I'm trying to fix it. Power supply appears to work, it's connected to the laptop right now, but the system doesn't turn on at all. I took the hd and battery out, put them back, but still doesn't work. Any suggestions? Thanks.

If there are two memory modules (usually under a hatch in the bottom of the case) take out one and see if the computer works. If not replace the first and remove the second and see if the computer works now.
