laptop wont turn on . it switches on and the keypad has lights but the screen is all black . any idea of how to fix it ?

It could be the screen's backlight that has blown. It's a replaceable DIY item but only if you know where to get the correct backlight and how to fit it, otherwise it's a job for a friend who knows how to do it or a PC repair shop.

When the laptop is running, shine a torch close to the screen. If you see an image, it's the backlight that has blown.
