Activation code for what, exactly?

It's a new form of theft protection/deterrence that more and more tablets are using. They come locked and require a 1 time activation code, this code normally comes on or with the receipt. Without the code the tablet is worthless and without proof of purchase(the receipt in most cases) the tablet manufacture will not give out the code.

I recently bought a Magellan GPS with that.

Oh well...such is life buying at the flea market. Buyer beware.
