Active or Passive Subwoofer?

My Kenwood KRF-5550D AV Receiver has speaker terminals to the Subwoofer. Do I need an Active or Passive subwoofer?

i have the KRF-V6050D version witch is no big differenc and for all of these receivers theyt use ((((( PASSIVE subwoofers )))))
