add a external power button

So I am making a arcade cabinet and the guts is a laptop the problem I am having is how to add a power button the the cabinet and connect it to the laptop. I would assume I would have to un-solder the button already connected and solder in the wires. just hoping someone knows an easier way.

What about mounting an old smartphone on the cabinet which can send a WOL packet to the laptop, will that be simpler? NOPE.

Stick with the soldering.

I didn't mean not soldering, I was hoping more of being able to daisy chain a button with the power button already connect. But when I tried that it just always threw power to the laptop.

You don't have to remove the existing button if it's not in the way, all you have to do is wire in parallel. The button shorts two point, that's all you are trying to achieve. Seems like a straightforward deal to me.
