Hello,
I have a dell xps 15 with 6gb of ram. I would like to get a bit better performance from it. I game some mostly WOW, Torchlight 2 and D3. I am thinking about adding 2gb of ram to increase the ram to 8gb and swapping out the harddrive and putting in an ssd drive. Is this worth doing and would it be much of a performance boost? Thank you

Yes, there will be a slight increase in performance but not much. More memory is always better. But in gaming sense it doesn't make improvement to particular games there will be overall performance boost. Yes, adding SSD is a good idea. For improvements in FPS or gaming experience it is best to upgrade your GPU.

Since you already have 6GB (4GB+2GB) you need to replace the 2GB module with a 4GB module as your laptop has only two slots.

Check these site for memory:

Good luck!!

I did this to my Dell XPS 15. As far as getting better gaming performance it doesn't make much of a difference other than load times as previous poster said. That doesn't mean it isn't worth doing though. The difference in your overall laptop performance makes it worth it. Windows will come on instantly and if your anything like me and have music/podcasts streaming while playing and many windows open this is where you will notice the difference. I doubt though that I will ever be able to go back to a regular HD though. The SSD has spoiled me.
