Adobe Flashplayer 17 won't play

Running Win 7 64bit and I downloaded flashplayer 17x32 for Mozilla (install went fine) but it keeps giving me a shockwave error when I try to run my internet program. Previous versions have always worked. I made sure Mozilla was up to date, tried doing a clean install (i.e. used the flashplayer uninstall tool then installed), I also checked my SSD for bad coding and run a full system virus checks, root kits (the whole 9). It still doesn't work. Adobe says that this version works for Win 7 64 bit Mozilla so I'm at a loss. Any suggestions?
