Advent notebook sound problem

Hello,

the sound on my notebook is really distorted. If I'm watching a film I can hear all the background music, but the speech isalmost impossible to hear. Any help gratefully received.

What sound card does your laptop have? Take a look in the programs from the start menu and see if you can find a sound card program. From there, you should be able to adjust the sound profile, i.e. music, movies, etc...

Sounds to me like the speakers are blown or the connection is faulty to the speakers themselves. If you connect a pair of headphones to the laptop can you hear it ok? if you can and your laptop is under warrantee send it back, if not you might want to buy a pair of external speakers, you should get something in and around 15 quid that's listenable.
