Hey. I'm looking for a laptop for school for less than $1000 including shipping to Hawaii. The screen should be 15.6 inches or less. I would also like the resolution to be greater than 1366x766. I want the laptop to have a Haswell CPU for better battery life. It will also be used for light gaming, so a discrete GPU would be nice. If it matters, I intend to upgrade the Hard Drive to an SSD eventually. So far, I have narrowed it down to two choices.

1. http://bit.ly/13nDdQV

2. HP ENVY TouchSmart 15t-j000 Quad Edition Notebook PC
$887.95 after 20% off.
Windows 8 64
4th generation Intel(R) Core(TM) i7-4700MQ Processor
NVIDIA GeForce GT 740M Graphics with 2048MB of dedicated video memory
15.6-inch diagonal Full HD BrightView LED-backlit Display (1920x1080)
8GB DDR3 System Memory (1 Dimm)
1TB 5400 rpm Hard Drive
NO mSSD Hard Drive Acceleration Cache
No Additional Office Software
No additional security software
6-Cell Lithium-Ion Battery
No Internal DVD or CD Drive
Backlit Keyboard
HP TrueVision HD Webcam w/ integrated digital mic
802.11b/g/n WLAN

The main difference is that the Asus has an Ultrabook CPU (i7 4500u) while the HP has a traditional CPU (i7 4700MQ), but, the Asus has an upgraded GPU (GT745m) while the HP has a GT740m. How much longer will the Asus last with an Ultrabook CPU? How much faster will the HP perform with a traditional laptop CPU? Which one will have better gaming performance, the laptop with a lower CPU but a better GPU or vice versa?

Thank you for your time.

Since Gaming is more GPU oriented, think I'd go with the Asus, also as far as life span, CPUs prob about equal but the Asus will run with less heat which is a plus
