Advice on small business phone solutions?

Our construction company currently has its own blackberry server and about 20 users on blackberry phones. My boss wants to know if there are other options for us. Obviously quick communication is key, and connection to outlook is a necessity. Do we really need our own server?
Also, the fact that the phones will be in the field, they should be fairly durable. We use Verizon as our provider. Help!

perhaps look into android phones. at this point in time they are viable for businesses. contact verizon directly or stop by a store as they should be able to give you more details on what you need.
