Hi,

I'm having the following issue:

After the latest forced Windows 10 update my laptop (ASUS G551JW) is only outputting sound through the speakers--when I plug in my headphones (any headphones), the Realtek HD Audiomanager pops up, asks me, if I plugged in headphones, and after confirming this the laptop speakers go mute but nothing comes out of the headphones. Headphones are also not listed as a sound device any more (see image).

I've (re)installed the latest Realtek drivers but the problem persists. I've also deleted the drivers and tried to use the Windows default drivers but that also didn't help. Rolling back to a previous driver or disabling and re-enabling the current one also didn't do anything, same with the Windows audio troubleshooter.

Thanks so much--any help is greatly appreciated.

When the headphones are plugged in, Right click on the speaker icon in the task bar. Then click on "Open Volume Mixer".

When the mixer opens, the headphones should be there. Make sure that they aren't set to a really low volume or even muted.

Another reason I don't like 10. And uninstalling updates doesn't happen in 10.

You could try uninstalling the driver and try installing a generic one.

If none work, then I would start to think that the port itself is the issue.

Is your laptop still under warranty? If so, then I would suggest you contact the manufacturer.

same thing happen with me but fortunately i tested my port is working. this issue only lies with windows itself. kindly help us raising this issue to Microsoft.
