To give you some perspective, I am coming from an M17 x r4 whose gpu failed recently...in fact around a week after it hit two. I'd have preferred to replace the gpu myself but my parents are understandably reluctant to spend 500$-800$ on a new 680m from ebay that may fail soon or not work on buying. Most sellers don't seem to allow returns. Apart from that they are staunch believers in the "electronics don't last for more than two years anyway" adage...sigh.

I was thinking of an Alienware 14 or a Lenovo y50. I know that Sager and Msi offer arguably better options (especially sager) at really competitive prices but I believe their service in India is almost non existent. .

So yeah, these are probably my only good gaming options. I plan to use the laptop for at-least three years around the time I pass out of college...and hopefully run games at medium by the end of that time...any information will be very helpful!

CPU: 4700HQ/4710HQ/4800MQ . The 4800MQ model has the same Cache and its frequency is 0.3Ghz more. The MQs models are not soldered, HQs are. (AW)
RAM: Although 8GB should be enough, I'd rather have 16GB (AW)
HDD: Lenovo's HDD are 5400rpm which means they spin slower and transfer data slowly (AW)
SSD: AW doesn't have an SSD but the Lenovo has an small 8GB (LENOVO)
Graphics Card: The 860m will run cooler, grab less power and have better perfomance (LENOVO)
Optical Drive: lenovo doesn't have one (AW)
Battery: Lenovo 50's battery is 4cell but it'll have a good battery-life, even better than AW's (IDK)
Wireless: The Intel Dual ac found in Lenovo y50 is better if your router supports ac (LENOVO)
