Wait, wait wait. So its perfectly fine to scan and take pictures of people flying on the airlines... but if they take a pictue of another employee its against the law ? Thats just a sad joke...

[citation][nom]wawa sxm[/nom][...] thank god europe aint paranoid like the u.s.[/citation]

Are you sure? I just flew from London to Glasgow on Wednesday and they actually took a sample from my tiny, half-full shampoo bottle to test it for explosives.

First I thought it's odd. Then I thought: Actually not a bad idea. :)

I rather suspect it was all done in fun to start with.
Then she decided to try to make a bit of money

I think either a peeping Tom or a devious molester came up with the body "naked" scanner idea and it took a bunch of morons to implemented.
The software could be made to show a stick figure instead of showing the naked body on the screen with warnings if any illegal objects are found.
Just imaging the collection of photos that pervert could have collected.

All this airport security is ridiculous. Even before all of the added security was put in place over the last 10-15 years, you were still 100 times as likely to get killed driving to the airport than on the flight.

Oh noes! The terrorists are killing millions of people every day and planes are falling from the sky crushing my neighbors' houses. Looking outside all I see is fire and chaos and men wearing turbans.

[citation][nom]flaminggerbil[/nom]Oh wait, just noticed that this was sauced from The Sun, parts of it are probably made up then.[/citation]

Pun intended?

Oh, I like the way the image on the site has the faces blurred, like someone is going to recognize the person being scanned.

[citation][nom]brendano257[/nom]Scanner or not I would think this incident deserves much stricter punishment. However I do find it entertaining that she's so offended.[/citation]

I still question the clarity of these devices. so far the scans haven't showed us anything "desirable" from any standpoint. nor does this security actually catch any explosives or weapons.. I know everyone is going for the "Total Recall" subway scene where you walk in front of a screen and shows your skeleton and a red blinking weapon.... but we are a long long long way from that.

[citation][nom]Rab1d-BDGR[/nom]Would you willingly do a striptease infront of total strangers? How about your spouse or your kids - Happy for them to nude up for some greasy pervert in a security uniform to stare at and maybe sneak a camera phone image for "personal use"?[/citation]

Good point, are these devices used to scan children? This could potentially become a huge issue. Just imagine the employee that has their own catalog of naked child photos taken from work.

As far as I know, children are not scanned in UK (children being people under 18). I remember there being a huge fuss about child porn, and I think they solved it by just imposing an 'over 18' only' rule. No idea what the protocol is in other countries, though.

The only reason we know is because it happened to a BAA person. Rest assured, this happens to 1000s of passengers all over the world without them knowing it.

Any wonder why pilots refer to TSA as Thousands Standing Around?

The scanners have been proven not to detect explosives or non-ferrous weapons (you know, like modern handguns). All they are is a huge sum of money to a few corporations with government connections.
