Hey i was thinking about purchasing the alienware M17x with the following specs

PROCESSOR Intel® Core™ i7 920XM 2.0GHz (3.2GHz Turbo Mode, 8MB Cache)
OPERATING SYSTEM Genuine Windows® 7 Ultimate, 64bit, English
MEMORY 8GB Dual Channel DDR3 at 1333MHz
HARD DRIVE 1TB Raid 0 (2x 500GB 7,200RPM HDDs)
VIDEO CARD Dual 1GB ATI Radeon™ Mobility HD 5870
WIRELESS CARDS Intel® Ultimate N WiFi Link 6300 a/g/n 3x3 MIMO Technology
SOUND OPTIONS Internal High-Definition 5.1 Surround Sound Audio

I have done some research and have come to the the conclusion that this is the best it gets for a laptop. I will be using with computer for may things work, gaming, ect.. I like the portability of the laptop but i would like to have the power of the desktop. But i know that they can never be equal but i would like something fairly close. So i was wondering if i have the right specs and if this would do the trick, or if not then should i look at a desktop or some other solution.

thanks

Save for SLI or X-Fire on the GPU (it's rare to see that in any laptops), I'd say that you have yourself a beast of a laptop. It will easily handle basically anything you can throw at it, especially with the 920XM, as it is one heck of a chip.
