alternative to Avira free?

I've been testing this out lately, and I like it BUT I'm getting sick of the nagging popup ads wanting me to upgrade. Is there another free alternative that's good?

Thanks. I actually downloaded Avast the other day and am trying it out. Works OK so far. I'm only using the file shield and didn't install all the other bloat.

Cool, thanks. I was thinking of trying BitDefender Free, but I think the lack of configuration options would annoy me.

If you have Windows 10 sometimes this might appear on startup:

Start Menu and Cortana aren't working

To fix it you will have to uninstall Avast. It happened to me a couple of times.

Thanks, but I'm still on Win 7. Probably won't upgrade until I get a new PC.
