Am I Really Transferring?

I am using a Belkin Easy Transfer Cable connected to Old PC and New Win 8 PC for obviously, data transfer...what's happening is the screen shows what "appears" to be data transferring but the screen also shows "trying to connect which will take more than a few minutes". When you look at Win8 PC it does look like data is being transferred because the HD light is working like crazy and it's been an hour and I think data is being transferred, but is it really?
Any suggestions or ideas if someone has used this setup before?

What you should do is look and see if the files are there.
