Why, is a 2.6GHZ Tbred not gonna beat a 2.6GHZ P4? That's all I meant really...

If the 2.6 Athlon and the 2.6 P4 are the highest processors from each company at the time, then that might make a difference.

Yes and it is what I meant, with current competing processors, a OCed 2.6GHZ Tbred would be a great money saver, except that it lacks SSE, and is on extreme cooling. My main point was that its performance at such speed, with a high bus as well, kicks ass for sure. I wonder if SSE2 apps like After Effects would still shine on the P4 at the same clock speed. I am guessing yes, since there is added bus and RAM since the 2.4GHZ.

looks promising for the future of the tbred.
this cpu is using the newer G stepping too.
just you wait.
we will see 2.5ghz air cooled sooner or later,
proly around the time barton shows up.

If barton will show up at the same time still be a barton 2500 GHZ.

cheap, cheap. Think cheap, and you'll always be cheap.AMD version of semi conducteur industrie

Do you think that the G stepping T-breds are synonymous to the AXP AXIA stettings? It would still seem to me that AMD needs to improve their .13 yields before they even consider releasing Barton, otherwise, it's nothing more than an advanced T-bred with extra cache. Who knows, an 1800+ Barton may be the 1.6a from AMD

The 1800 tbird is the 1.6a from amd, taking that sucker to 2300+ is nothing to scoff at, and on a 166fsb would give the 2.4 p4 a run for its money.

I think you mean SSE2.
No I think he meant SSE cause when using LN2 cooling or something like that to do extreme overclocks, it seems like a few lose their SSE.

Yeah that's what I meant.
As for extreme cooling pricing, I said if the aircooling methods work at 2.6GHZ soon if Tbred continues to improve then the cooling won't be so expensive, but we'll see.

I have a friend who keep his PIII Celeron PC in a freezer. It is too overclockable, but probably he will damage both the PC and the freezer.
