[citation][nom]shadow22[/nom]The weight here is incorrectly specified. From the manufacturer's website:Curb Weight: 294 lbs / 134 kgGross Weight (includes rider): 759 lbs / 345kg[/citation]

465lbs of rider(s)? Something is still off there.

Outside of the weight this still makes no sense. You could buy a gas scooter for half of this price that goes just as fast, pay for gas for 5+ years and still have money left over. And it would perform better (though the electric likely has better torque), be easier to maneuver, look better AND you won't have to replace the batteries in a few years.

Fail! Check out zero motorcycles. Motorcycle size and handling at a much lower weight and about the same price. Still doesn't solve the problem of getting creamed by a car, but nonetheless.

How about the fact that you are much less likely to get into an accident than in a car. Of course when you do....

Also, that site list the price as $10k (-10% tax credit) and a top speed of "67 mph (105 km/h)", both worse. It also weighs 273lbs curb weight vs 294lbs, so 21lbs difference, not really "much lower weight".

Hey, I put 15,000 or so mile on motorcycles, but I know they are dangerous.

The larger wheels and motorcycle frame/rider position makes a big difference in handling. I've ridden both motorcycles and scooter and freeway speeds on a scooter would make me crap my pants.

[citation][nom]TommySch[/nom]It depends where you live, not every country is as 3rd worldish as the USA or China... Coal plants, lol!Not that I really care, Ill keep using my highly polluting CBR 600RR instead of getting this slow heavy Chinese-made crap.[/citation]

Agreed. (However, I doubt your CBR is that polluting... at least compared to big cruisers.) As nice as 240nm of torque sounds, it is probably at an extremely low RPM (like most electric motors) and MUCH MUCH MUCH too heavy.

Personally, I wouldn't consider a bike over 400 lbs... A Sub-300lb bike with 100hp would be so sexy. (I'm sure Aprilia could easily do that.)

Also, you don't want to go 70 with tires that small, trust me. It's very dangerous I've ridden a regular scooter that goes pretty fast but it is soooo scary compared to a motorcycle with normal-sized tires.

[citation][nom]simple_inhibition[/nom]too bad it doesnt reach 88 MILES PER HOUR!sorry, couldnt leave out the back to the future pun[/citation]

Might have some trouble accomodating Einstein, and his supply of doggy biscuits..he got rather attached to them in 2029.

For electric motors the max torque starts at >0RPM, so you are correct. However the peak torque RPM range is usually really long (certainly longer than gasoline engines) and the reason you want torque in a scooter is to get up hills, so low RPM is fine for that.

They better invest their money in hiring better engineers!
it'd mean I can only drive this vehicle for 1 hour driving 55 mph.
Just enough to drive from home to the job and return.
Knowing that in 4 years you only have around 2/3th of the battery capacity left, means you'd have to purchase a new one every 3 years (or at least a new battery pack which is what is most expensive on the bike)!

For that price (minus $2000 = $5000) you can buy a nice second hand car that'll last you as long, and invest the 2000 for gas.
It'll at least keep you dry on a rainy day, and warm on a cold one!
