Android Version 4.1.2

I am trying to upgrade the version of Android running on my phone (Samsung Galaxy Exhibit). When I click 'Software Update' it tells me I 'The device is up to date'. Isn't there a higher version available? I am trying the download an app that requires 4.2 or later.

If that's what it says, then your current version is as far as you'll get with official support. You could, in theory, root your phone and flash a custom ROM based on 4.2 or higher, if it is really that important. May even be some based on stock Android.
