Um... yeah. That guy is more whacktivist than hacktivist. Sounds like a jumbled litany of conspiracy theories and threats.

If I considered myself Anon, I would quickly disavow this clown.

Amateurish rap, not all that political. Try Black Gold by Talib Kweli, 302 by Random, Stay Free by the Revelations, etc., etc. This is just lame.

Can someone please name one important change that has happened since anon started its campaign? They've gotten TONS of news coverage, but what have they really accomplished so far?

On another note, I'm not much for rap, and this is no exception.

Just had to register to say the obvious - the beat to this song is Requiem for a Dream - Clint Mansell. Last time I checked this wasn't public domain, so congrats for ripping that off.

Red vs. Blue put it perfectly when they said "it's not illegal because I don't want it to be".

I find the ignorance of some of the commenters disgusting. If you actually knew anything about Anonymous, you'd know it's not a group, but an idea. There is no leader. There are no partners. There are no splinters. And there is definitely no official song. Please brothers, get your head around this idea before you spout your armchair-nonsense.

They should've made it Rock & Roll instead...

Well, I'd note that an opression-favoring corporation that was engaged in illegal activities and business/Internet thuggery (HBGary) was essentially oblitterated due to a combination of hacking attacks, all from Anonymous. Similarly, several other companies in the "security industry" have recanted their own aims of such thuggery, realizing that they can't quite get away with hacking and spying on innocent, law-abiding to satsify contracts they got from other corporations.

Also, last I checked, the Arab Spring resulted in a lot of changes in foreign governments. And yes, Anon had their hand in there, but generally a lighter hand, such as simply providing alternative Internet and news access to citizens of countries like Lybia and Egypt; essentially acting as "Internet blockade runners" in spite of the best attempts of the then-governments of Gadaffi and Mubarak. (both of which, as you might recall, have fallen, with a transition to democracy underway in both countries)

However, I will agree; rap is crap, and I don't realy see this as an exception.

Why is it that nearly every TH-reader has a fundamental misunderstanding of Anonymous. Please, just please, understand it is simply and image and idea, not a group.

[citation][nom]stingstang[/nom]You know, I was expecting better from anonymous.[/citation]

No, on every level you can possibly conjure in your mind.

[citation][nom]Spiffy1[/nom]@Alidan you should probably listen in history class because there have been major changes in several nations due to peaceful protests...[/citation]

im looking at some... lets see here, lets leave out the martyrs, where non violence was met with armed resistance, people died, and public outrage.

im seeing TONS of 20+ year long non violent movements that accomplished next to nothing...

what most people done understand is that these non violent movements never realy succeed, you want your nation freed, so non violent movement, 50+ years later, you are "free" but not because of the movement, but because there is no longer a logical reason to hold that nation.

now this is a national level kind of protests.

do you honestly thing a company would ever bend over for a peicefull protest? the only way that you could make a difference is a boycot, but honestly, sense capitalism took over, has there been a successful boycot?

The iTunes prison is the antithesis of what Anonymous stands for.

Response to:

Tom's really seems to like to promote left wing political propagandists where it should be reporting tech news (about tech things that just so happen to be invented/created by "evil corporations" and not socialistic governments), but hey, to each his own I guess. When all the world's governments are run by lunatic clowns like these guys, there won't be any new tech to report on.

Honestly, these clowns and subversives should just move to North Korea, where they wouldn't need to worry about "oppressive corporations" and they could see how wonderful a country is when it is run by people who think like they do :). There is corruption in many businesses, but oppression? Does microsoft or apple show up at your door at 2am to drag you away to a gulag? Ok so a product costs too much... don't buy it. So you don't like how the company does business... don't buy their crap. Simple as that. Even chinese communists are figuring out that free markets work and marxism doesn't. No wonder our country is in the mess it's in.
