Hi everyone

1. What is your budget?

sub $1000 is ideal, but i can stretch to about $1200

2. What is the size of the notebook that you are considering?

Anything less that 15.6 is fine.

3. What screen resolution do you want?

at least 720p

4. Do you need a portable or desktop replacement laptop?

Must be portable as it will be used for school.

5. How much battery life do you need?

4 hours min but i would love 6-8+

6. Do you want to play games with your laptop? If so then please list the games that you want
to with the settings that you want for these games. (Low,Medium or High)?

Not really, some small things such as CS:GO (just stuff you can play on an HD 4000)

7. What other tasks do you want to do with your laptop? (Photo/Video editing, Etc.)

Word, Email, Internet. School stuff basically

8. How much storage (Hard Drive capacity) do you need?

300gb+ or a 128gb SSD

9. If you are considering specific sites to buy from, please post their links.

10. How long do you want to keep your laptop?

Start of uni so 2-3 years

11. What kind of Optical drive do you need? DVD ROM/Writer,Bluray ROM/Writer,Etc ?

I can live without one.

12. Please tell us about the brands that you prefer to buy from them and the brands that you don't like and explain the reasons.

Acer, Asus, Samsung and HP are all good in my books (other brands as well but they don't really make what I'm after ie MSI Metabox.)

Don't like Apple (price really)

13. What country do you live in?

Australia, Melbourne

14. Please tell us any additional information if needed.

Something thin and portable is ideal such as a HP envy, Acer S3.

Also considering a Surface Pro but still dont know enough about it atm.

I would look to see if Sony sells the VAIO SVS15123CXB or similar laptop in Australia. Pricing would be different since I believe things cost more in your country even though the difference in currency value is relatively small.

It has a Core i5, HD 4000, 15.5" 1920x1080 resolution screen and it is 4.42 pounds which is pretty light given it's size. If I were in the market for a laptop, that would be the one I would most likely buy even though I have a strong preference for Lenovo ThinkPads.

Check with budget PC first since they claim 2 year warranty on this laptop (make sure it is). If it is not (they make a mistake and there is really only 1 year warranty), then go to the store that is closest to you.
