effective February 7, 2005, CMT, Country Music Television, has made the
decision to no longer provide their service through C-Band subscription. CMT
has made the decision to switch their broadcasting format to PowerVu and
will now no longer be available to C-Band customers. SPS encourages out

upgrades. Motorola has no plans to build any new IRD's or HDD200 or a
combined units in the future. Needless to say I was informed that Motorola
will only update the 4DTV IRD indirectly

I forgot to add that C band needs the help all of all the Scrooges out
there who are not buying a subscription!

Want to see C band\4DTV last -then pay up!

Too cheap and chincy to buy a subscription?Then don't come to the News
groups and complain about lost channels since it's partly your fault!

I have no problem paying for quality programming. I take the 4DTV digital
package twice.

What I have a problem with is the stations and cable and ld(little dish)
co's rigging the game. Did you ever wonder why even today 99.99% of all
HDTV's sold are monitors. It was done so the consumer would either have to
pay another $1000.00 for a HDTV tuner or subscribe to their service. They
through their weight behind it and now they are trying to put their channels
out of our reach. By not making PowerVu decoders available. Why are they
doing this. So no one has the choice to purchase a la carte. You either take
them all and pay through the nose or tuff tamale. That's 40 million probably
unhappy viewers. Shelling out approximately $50 bucks a month for 10
channels they might watch daily. That's around 200,000,000. a month. It
will be a cold day in hell before they let any of their profits slip by
offering a la carte. In other words they are trying to build a monopoly. If
you want those programs then you will have to pay for them all. No more
pick and choose.

If it's a conspiracy. You just weren't invited to profit from the game.
Choice, it's a right not a pleasure. The more choices the better and cheaper
the products.

I watched AFRTS when I was in the USAF in the 70's. I never saw anything
that required scrambling or anything useful to our enemies. Maybe that has
changed since I got out in 78.

I'm glad that I didn't run out and buy a receiver with AC3 capability so
that I could continue watching TechTV. I've seen TechTV while staying at
a hotel and I'm quite disappointed as to what it has become. The Screen
Savers was my favorite show but all they have on there now are a bunch of
20-somethings that think they're real entertainers. Anyway, I haven't
seen much useful stuff since Leo & Patrick no longer host the show.

Let them do their thing. I no longer have any subscriptions and I've wrote
to various organizations as to why I won't watch their commercial ridden
programming. It has been over 6 months and I'm finally doing something
more useful with my life. Of course, I go out and rent the occassional
DVD. Anyway, I think people are nuts for continuing to pay for all that
commercial laden programming (especially those that spend all that
money for plasma TV's). But, I suspect that they'll continue to do so
to keep their brats happy. No one's getting their money's worth with all
those distractions from the commercials running during the program. The
only way to stop it is to stop paying for services not rendered.

Not really. What has changed is program rights and revenue streams are
religiously protected, mosyly by encryption and conditional access.

For the most part, you are paying to have it delivered. In the case of
C-band it is encrypted to protect the cable and small dish providers
subscriptions.
