So I have an option of using Norton Internet Security 2011 or Symantec Endpoint Protection which is provided to me free through my school as an unmanaged client. Are they both good? Which one do you recommend?

Solution
Both are good and hard to recommend one over the other. In the past I have used older revisions and if anything the Norton was a little bit heavier on system resources.

Solution
both choices are resource hogs and will slow down your system but if it's free then it's free. demo them both (one at a time) and decide for yourself.

try this free one:
comodo internet security - 32 and 64-bit versions
download.com - check it out
free, award winning, excellent reviews besides mine, plenty of tools and user friendly..
