Any Motorola V60v reviews?

Hi,

I'm upgrading from my Samsung A400 and would also like to get rid of
my landline phone as well, so I want a phone that has great reception
and sound quality (I'd prefer it if the person I'm calling doesn't
say, "are you calling from a cell phone?").

The V60v looks to be a good basic phone. I don't need cameras or PCS
vision, just a solid voice phone.

Are there any new V60v owners out there who can comment on the quality
of this phone?

Thanks in advance,
at

I have heard that the V60 is pretty solid, but from experience, Sanyo
usually provides good to very good sound and voice quality, especially
the 4900 or 8100. Either entry-level Nokia phone (3585i or 3588i) are
also excellent phones if you are looking for a solid voice phone. The
nokias will have no access to Vision, but the 3588i has text messaging
capabilities.

Voice quality is geat and signal quailty is realy great. If you are
in a fringe area this is the phone to own. Also the voice dialing
works really well.

You might get a camera with a Sanyo but you will be out of service

Thanks to all for the advice.

The V60v has "true SMS" listed as one of it's features. Is it
possible to send SMS text messages TO someone's Yahoo Messenger? I
know I said I just need a voice phone earlier, but this could be a
useful feature.

Thanks again,

No. Our SMS system goes to phone numbers (and, interestingly, to
email addresses).

I have a V60v for 2 weeks after about 18 months with a ATT Wireless
V60. Ordered 4 of them for myself and extended family. Here's my
view:

The good -
It's a phone! No camera, etc. That's what I bought it for. Form
factor is very good. Still one of the most compact. Screen is very
basic by today's color standards, but usable. User interface is OK;
not great but usable. Durability should be good (based on a few -
unintentional - drop tests of my ATT v60. Power adapter is very
small.

The bad -
Mine is having problems - I think this one is defective. One other
seems to have problems. Two are fine. The problems with mine include
dropped calls, choppy reception. Sprint Customer Service said to
bring into Service Center to run diagnostics. But neither of the 2
centers I checked can run diagnostics on a v60v (at least yet - most
don't carry the phone yet). So I would have to send it into Sprint.
Battery talk time on mine is bad - about 60 minutes. But this may be
related to my "defective" phone. Sound quality with earphone is poor
(was also poor with my ATT v60). I have heard that v60s are very
particular about the headset, but mine current v60v is bad with a
Motorola headset.

The ugly -
None of the other non-universal v60 accessories (power, data cable)are
compatible. Also, only source I know of for power adapters is
Motorola. Even Sprint did not carry them online when I last checked.

Bottom line - Even though I waited to move to Sprint until the v60v
was available, I'm returning mine. I travel a lot and can't afford a
phone that needs to be sent in for service - though they are willing
to send the new one first. Will also return my wife's, since I want
compatible power cables. On the other hand, the 2 others are working
fine and they won't be returned. For what its worth, multiple Sprint
representatives have recommended Sanyo as having best reception
(though since they had no experience with Motorola they could not
comment on it).

Hi

I got a V60v a few weeks back. I love the phone, great signal and
call quality. I have been following the review in the news groups and
the two sprint user group sites. You are the first person to complain
about phone quality. Most of the reviews are consistent. It is a
really great phone, but just a phone.

I agree about the changed connector, I assume Sprint changed it so
they could sell some more accessories. I just got a car charger; I
really like how small the AC charger is don't you? They also have a
really small AC battery charger (charge out of the phone). Look on
Motorola's web site
