Any update on folders for HD Tivo?

I have two of the DirecTV HD Tivo units. They are both running 3.1.5f

I was under the impression that these guys were supposed to get a software
upgrade allowing the use of folders some time in May. Do other HD Tivo users
have the folder option? Neither of my units are hacked.

I just got a new HDTIVO (HR10-250) and it doesn't have folders yet
either. Hope that changes soon.

I don't think anyone has ever said such a thing. I've never heard of any
schedule for adding folder to DTiVos.

Actually I'm pretty sure I've seen threads regarding a version 6
software upgrade for DTivo's which include folders. It may not apply to
the HD Dtivo however.

Perhaps the replacement for your HR10-250 supporting the new satellites
will have folders. You should know by the end of this year.

It certainly does.

Not currently but those models are not excluded according to DTV's
website.

Most likely on the 12th of never, or they'd given us some better word.

This page lists the HR10-250 along with the first generation DVRs
as not receiving an upgrade "at this time".

http://www.directv.com/see/landing/dvr_upgrade.html

It seems the HD DVR is as likely to receive an upgrade to 6.2 as the Sony SAT-T60.

If you have heard leaks from beta-testers about 6.2 on a SAT-T60, then I'd
say the chances are about the same, since 6.2 is being beta-tested on the
HR10-250. It will have some HD-specific functionality that doesn't exist
in the 6.2 for SD DirecTiVos (mostly better support for varying output
resolutions).

Doesn't anyone know why certain receivers are not being updated?

Here's a quote from their site:

Are all DIRECTV DVRs receiving this upgrade?
No. DIRECTV DVR models SONY SAT-T60, PHILIPS DSR6000R, HUGHES GXCEBOT and
HR10-250 will not receive the 6.2 software upgrade at this time.

Well, all that you listed are first generation and presumably just plain old
not being worked on or updated anymore.

No guess as to why the HR10-250 hasn't got it yet.

For the same reason those other models have not been upgraded.
The HR10-250 uses software that has not been revised.

There is nothing in the quoted paragraph suggesting the listed
DVR models will never be upgraded.

My guess is the HR10-250 model will be replaced by an MPEG-4
capable receiver before a software upgrade is released.
