Hello, good morning, guys.

Just recently I came across an Acer E5 553G with an A10-9600P processor and I am actually very interested in it. However, there isn't enough information about the processor. The laptop also has an R8 M445DX which is simply a rebranded R8 M365DX (R7 M460, or M360 (6CU, possibly Oland) plus the integrated one on the processor). The price of the laptop is just under $500 and I can pretty say that's a very good price.

From what I can find, the M365DX actually scored impressively high on 3dMark Firestrike (~1900) and the M445DX seems to be quite similar to the 930M in gaming which I'd like to compare against.

The CPU performance seems promising as well, as it will probably score around 250 points in Cinebench R15 (which is the one I'm concerned the most regarding CPU performance). However, hearing from older Carrizo laptop reviews, the chips suffer from limited TDP which the manufacturers set to increase battery life. Since Bristol Ridge is simply just Carrizo with DDR4, I think it's okay to assume that we'll see the same story with Bristol Ridge. However, this is unconfirmed because of the lack of information there is on the internet.

There is also some articles that mentioned the Dual graphics setup creating some stuttering in games. Whether it's a unit related issue, Carrizo related issue or an issue with all Dual Graphic config, I'm not sure, but I think I'm taking this consideration too.

The other laptop which I'm also considering is an ASUS a455 which is around $38 cheaper, comes with a similarly performing 930M BUT with a lowly i3-4005U, that scored around 170 points on Cinebench. It will certainly be slower than the A10, but with the issues mentioned above, could the a455 be a better option? Laptop sizes don't actually matter in this comparison.

So, would it be safe to buy the Acer E5 553G with the issues mentioned above? Or should I go with the a455? I hope you can make a good argument and/or give accurate/clarification data on this.

Thanks.

i think you should choose the acer, it has a good reasonable price for spec like that.
better pick with the A12/FX procie

for the issues itself, they often happen in dual graphic card, cause not all the game support dual gpu

I have a A10 9600p laptop i have very happy with it has a quad core cpu with powerful integrated r5 graphics.the r5 graphics is faster than the intel hd 520 series in the i3 6100u,i5 6200u.in single core applications the i3 4005 may be a bit faster because it is dual core and may have better single core performance.i would go with team red because honestly the i3 4005 is terrible i mean if your going to get a i3 look for a i3 6100u.

at that price point this laptop is very good value including a i5 6200u skylake and a geforce 940mx.

https://www.amazon.com/Acer-Aspire-NVIDIA-Windows-E5-575G-53VG/dp/B01DT4A2R4/ref=sr_1_8?ie=UTF8&qid=1468737034&sr=8-8&keywords=i5+6200u+acer

keep in mind i have integrated r5 graphics that can easily play minecraft, league of legends, csgo at medium with mxaa on,and casual titles.

oh just found a acer A12 laptop with dedicated r8 graphics http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16834315445&nm_mc=KNC-GoogleAdwords-PC&cm_mmc=KNC-GoogleAdwords-PC-_-pla-_-Notebooks-_-N82E16834315445&gclid=CjwKEAjwtqe8BRCs-9DdpMOilBoSJAAyqWz_KKH0UsbdU12M5ID1G4Gt64sn47KTWYgyPNbp-Trg2hoCvJLw_wcB&gclsrc=aw.ds

and usually they dont pair APU with dedicated gpus so i dont think you have to worry about that on my samsung with A10 and dedicated graphics was in crossfire and i had not too much issues.and btw the 930m is pretty trash im pretty sure my integrated r5 can beat it,the r7 m460 dedicated can barely surpass my integrated graphics performance and also yes the tdp does limit the gpu a bit it goes at maxium and after a few minutes degrades a bit small so you dont have to worry and also the A12 has a 35W tdp if you want to go for that.and the intel also has a 15w tdp so theres no tradeoff for either one of them tdp wise.and amd's new bristol bridge architecture is a rework of carrizo and is better not just the ddr4 it has 30-40% better integrated graphics than hd 520 and has better tdp work than intels current skylake models.

Just avoid it as far as you can...I bought a Lenovo ideapad 310 with AMD A10 9600p APU and man..worst buying in my life... It`s slow..bloody slow..watching movies and play simple (very simple) games is fine, but way too expensive for that...Even with ssd just slow..not worth it

Dual graphics work fine with DX12 games. DX12 supports Explicit Multi Adaptor. The whole point is scalable graphics. You have to get your head out of the obsolete DX11 world and get into DX12!!

DX11 sux and it is dead.
