Anyone with experience with Microcenter Open Box products? (Or open box in general?)

I'm interested in purchasing a laptop from my local Microcenter. They've got an MSI GT70 0ND-444US for around $750, which seems like quite a deal. The caveat is that it's an open box item. Is this a bad idea? I don't want to end up with an expensive paperweight. The product comes with a 15-day return policy, which allows me to return it for any reason for the full purchase price. It also has a one year manufacturers warranty, which can be extended. Thoughts?

If MC is not out of the way, then it may be worth checking out.

From what I understand, "open box" typically means the box has been opened, the laptop has been used and the original purchasers decided not to keep it. It doesn't necessarily mean it is defective, although if it was returned to MC because it was defective, then it should have been repaired and then re-sold as a refurbished laptop.

It may or may not have scratches on it; sometimes referred to as Scratch and Dent merchandise (SnD).

As long you can get a full refund, then at worse you waste some time, at best you get a good gaming laptop for a good price. And maybe a couple of "free" scratches.
