Puritan Apple, eh? Have you checked out the comments by customers (not Apple) on the Playboy app? I didn't download it, but the comments are way over the top ("... filth" etc.). Of course the censoring is also driven by such uproar, and Apple should either censor or not (maybe with an age base filter, which of course is useless online since you need a credit card for your account anyway, and any youngster with a parent backed card can claim to be old enough).

This makes no sense...it just doesn't make any sense! Society makes nudity/sexuality "evil". Nudity is natural, and so is sex. What are they trying to hide? Hide it from the "kiddies"? They're going to find out about that eventually. I just hate how society makes nudity/sex seem evil and unjust.

If children are the problem I have two suggestions.

1. Children shouldn't be using iPhones. Take away the iPhone.

2. Give the applications a rating and have a parental control section in the settings to disable applications and/or deny apps from downloading if they are above a certain rating. It is really really easy. Microsoft does it with the Xbox 360.

Finding out about sex from porn seems like a poor substitute for proper educational alternatives. Violent and other negative porn, role played or not, is going to have some effect on them. Whether its evil or unjust isn't as important as how it could negatively impact our society to allow children to look at it.

I bet the iPod/iPhone OS 4.0 will have a start screen once you slide to unlock it, where it shows you a different biblical verse from the "Old Testament"... I'm thinking creationists are running the apps store.

doesn't this prove that Apple approval process is broken?

I mean they laid out all these rules and yet isn't consistent in what apps are available or if they're banned..

"In keeping with this tradition, it would appear Apple's decision to delete thousands of applications for their "overtly sexual content" does not extend to the Playboy application. "

[citation][nom]mlopinto2k1[/nom]I recently went on an Apple forum of some sort looking for information on how to get Linux to connect to an iPod Touch and when I seen the CORNY.. I mean COOOORNY "lingo" there about how they had to use Windows (BARF) to get something done, it made me sick. To come here and see the same crap in comments is just as sickening. Love the articles though! Cmon, don't be like a bunch of flaming 12 year olds.. and if you ARE 12, think before you rant about how bad Apple is. Just like your gonna tell me, IF YOU DON'T LIKE IT, DON'T USE IT.[/citation]

So you support censorship then? Guess you would not mind if Apple decided to censor the internet to anything they didn't deem appropriate for you.

Next up: Only Apple approved websites for the iPhone, iPad and Mac.

BTW, no tampon apps for the iPad are allowed either.
