[citation][nom]eeide[/nom]How come Tom's Hardware doesn't do this anymore? Very detailed breakdown of the antenna problem. Tom's seems to just find stories and repost them. What happened to creating your own stories and being a real journalist instead of being a news aggregator.[/citation]

Apple's customer ARE idiots.

whats what is the problem? They're just treating idiots like the way they're supposed to be treated.

[citation][nom]eeide[/nom]Obviously you didn't read the article at anandtech fully! The only way to make the phone unusable was to cup the bottom of it completely. Just pick up your smartphone right now and cup the bottom 1/4 or so semi tightly and you will see your signal go away! It seems that holding your phone normally and not trying to make the signal go away won't have problems for 99% of users. For the edge case users they should promptly return it! If I had any phone that dropped signal because I had bad signal in the first place and a design flaw made it even worse and I don't want a case then I would return it and get something with an internal antenna. No big deal. Why should Apple give you something for free or appease you in any way when you aren't required to have an iPhone and have plenty of Android handsets on the market to choose from. If everybody had problems I could see Apple doing something, but why waste millions for a few edge cases?[/citation]

Hey guess what, I just did that. in fact I did more than just covering the bottom of my Nexus one. I got a pair of faily big hands so I covered the entire Back & side and part of the lower Front and GUESS WHAT, nothing has changed, still getting the usual full bars.

Nice try, try harder next time. iPhone is GARBAGE so is their user. period.

Apple don't have to admit anything, like some people said Apple can just take a Brick and call it an iPhone and losers like that guy in Texas would still camp a week in front of the Apple store so he can be the first one to get it.

Everyone just wish they have a business like Apple. Cuz no matter how Shitty the Product is, people still gonna go nutz and dying to get their hands on it. Pathetic.

Apples new motto should be "Cup buttocks, not phones".

It might go against their anti-porn policy a little, but it might make the whiners feel silly.

Looks like the iPhone 4 was made for left handed people only.

Apple is finding its niche with only around 10% of the world.

I was at school today and someone was showing his friend the new iPhone 4 he bought for $50. Apparently the previous owner had severe reception issues, couldn't return it, and couldn't find someone interested in buying it until he offered it for such a low price. The original owner is still stuck with a contract for a phone that has already cost him money.

Apparently Apple has posted job listings for antenna engineers.

AHAHA!

apple need's to be sued for their music division, when apple came up with their name / was copy rited by George Harrison of yes the Beatles/ and he said yes you can use the name but not to get in the music business ...

The "antenna issue" isnt a issue. its a feature that will be changed accordingly with the follow-up IPhone 5.

Yep and the iphone 5 will have some issues that will get resolved with the iphone 6 and so on and so on

[citation]Further, reps are told to remind customers that the wireless performance on the iPhone 4 is the best they've ever shipped and that gripping any phone in the wrong place will diminish signal.[/citation]
Sorry Apple but I can grip my phone (Verizon Boulder by Casio) in any way I want (Ive tried even way using my hands) and I can not loose even 1 bar of reception...

I think the point is not that all phones will lose signal if you 'cover the entire back and sides'. The point is that nobody actually holds a phone in that way.

Do you understand now?

Oh and Strider-Hiryu - you still completely miss the point.

The post of mine I think you're referring to was the one where I said that if you press a button, and the software does something unexpected - the software is to blame. Now there are two solutions to this SOFTWARE problem (assuming it even exists - lets not forget that the majority of IPhone users can't reproduce this 'signal loss'):

Solution 1 - Correct the software (which I still believe will happen)
Solution 2 - Cover up the button to prevent the user pressing it.

So, not only did I never mention 'Rubber-band's at all, not once, it also doesn't contradict anything I said that it is possible to solve the problem by using one.

'5. We ARE NOT appeasing customers...'

Well lets not be ridiculous. There is a HUGE difference between saying 'we ARE NOT appeasing customers' and 'we ARE NOT appeasing customers with free bumpers'. That's why it's a bit ridiculous to take a sentence out of context in that way.

Just because they don't appease customers with free bumpers doesn't mean that they don't aim to appease customers in other ways.

If you want to be taken seriously, you can't start misrepresenting what is probably not a real document in the first place.

WOW sounds like the old Apple is back the same reason why I stopped using any apple products hardware or software.

Hopefully the Apple retards will fix their defective phones without cost or penalty to the customers.

Apple is too big to fail or too big to be under the USA law, they are above the law just like BP.

yet another reason i refuse to buy apple products...overpriced and they could careless about their customers. as far as holding any phone a certain way resulting in reception loss? how about using common sense and put the antennae in a spot where people DON'T hold their phones...whoever designed this phone must have had their nose so far up jobs derriere, they couldn't see what they were doing

Steve Jobs thinks he can use Jedi mind tricks ('There is no reception issue'), so we could try that too. For all those who have fallen victim to the scam known as the iPhone, go to the Apple Store and say 'There is a reception issue. You will give me a free bumper case'). In a free country everyone should be able to use the force...
