[citation][nom]Matt_B[/nom]Obama never held any position of importance before taking his first term senate seat. He was a senator for TWO months before deciding to run for office. That makes him no more qualified for President than you or I.If you are not an American, then I consider your views and opinions about this country and how to run it forfeit. Sorry to put it like that, but the same goes for me and what I have to say about wherever you are a citizen of.[/citation]
Reagan didn't have any qualifications to be president either; see how that turned out?
[citation][nom]Matt_B[/nom]America is THE definition of capitalism and the success it brings. Capitalism by it's very nature brings about hard workers looking for that promotion, skilled laborers, new upstart companies, people more willing to attend college to further their education, and more. What this all ultimately brings to the table is a society that works towards that one ideology of an honest days work for an honest buck. Capitalism drives innovation and invention - very important point there, we wouldn't be the leaders we are without it! Our system is not perfect, without it however, America would not be what other countries have come to witness at the success we are. With socialism as the backbone of the economy, well, just take a look at the other countries that put this system to work. You will quickly realize how very bad the shift in government intervention and private sector ownership really is - because that's the path American is traveling right now! You mentioned being a college kid, do yourself a favor and take up macro and microeconomics and learn about the very system you criticize![/citation]
The only truly successful people I've met here are all-star, football loving, never-knew-the-meaning-of-sadness jocks, or people with no self-respect willing to take a fall. That's not exactly a system I can believe in when the only way I can hope at the same success is to move to silicon valley. The only reason socialist states never succeed is because they're also very power-hungry, which is the exact reason we're in the debt we're in right now. War isn't good for any system's budget except in the short term manufacturing. It's always followed by a crash and debt that we'll never pay off.
If Obama uses our influence to fix the terrible excuse we have for a UN and doesn't send us to another useless war [the only "useful" war being self-defense], and gets us the social healthcare that Hillary completely screwed up at, I'll know in three and a half years whether or not I'm glad I voted for him.
Don't worry, I'm not a Michael Moore fan, I've just got family in Canada, and the bad parts of our medical system are MUCH worse than theirs, hands down.
