Actually there is an app for that is called Android 😛

"Once again, Apple's software restrictions causing problems for users"
"I have an iPhone 4 and love it, but without the Jailbreak, it wouldn't be half the phone it is"
you said it all i guess.. Apple is sooo fucking frustrating, it's crazy what nonsense then actually do to restrict users.. it's just unbelievable and soo not in the direction of the evolution of technologies...

I hope she wins the lawsuit, but in any case it seems to me the Apple has staked its claim in the marketplace: What they seem to be saying in their practices is that they do not want customers who are somewhat technically literate and are looking for good value and long life in the products they buy. Instead, Apple is catering to two types of customers, both of whom need to have extra $$$ to throw around:

1) Style: People who want the latest "trendy" device, regardless of price, and will be selling it and buying a new one in a year or so anyway so software and support issues are not critical.

2) Simplicity: People who are technically challenged and want a "big brother" to take care of things for them, even if it means paying more for limited (censored) application and internet options.

consumers (people who misguidedly spend LARGE amounts of $$$'s on trendy items) should not have to accept the loss of their dollars spent on some cheap apple hardware that does not work well with new software. (period)

If any company does not play well with it's customers (profit base) , then the customers (you) should not play with them. it will not be long before apple descides to view the customer as their real source of PROFIT.

profit is the only reason for being in business ...... if you do not give them $$$$'s ...... they will flounder

Man, I was wondering why the internet was sooooo slow. Shit. It's not even usable right now. I'm paying for nothing.

When I updated my iPhone 3G to 4.0, I hated how slow it was, it really was unusable, and I found the best way to solve this problem, I got an ANDROID, to hell if I was going to use my upgrade to get another iPhone that would later end up just like its younger brother, a brick in a year or two. To all iPhone uses, good luck, I hope you soon see that there are better options, iPhone it's not what it should be, Android is, and with the upcoming of WP7, you may never know, it may be better than Android in the future, only time will tell, and time has told that iPhone and Apple can screw you over!

Apple sues Microsoft, who sues Motorola, who sues Intel for sueing AMD for being sued for sueing Apple for over sueing nVIDIA for being sued bu Intel for being sued by the FTC, who...

While its not widely know Apple does in fact allow users to downgrade. All you need to do is download the ipsw file for whatever iOS version you want. In order to install it, just hold down SHIFT while you click "Restore" in iTunes and point it to the ipsw. The only tricky part to doing it all "officially" is finding the ipsw from Apple directly, but I found this post below that has a link to every version of every ipsw file through 3.1.3 hosted by Apple.

Apple would really like me to go out and replace my crippled 3Gs with a nice shiny iphone 4, but why would I support a company that treats paying customers like crap? I'm going to pick up a samsung focus on monday and will promptly jailbreak my iphone for something to do, WP7 will be a much better experience.

Thank you Apple for showing me what kind of company you are! I'll never buy another product from you again!

[citation][nom]jomofro39[/nom]Poor consumers. Can you imagine going to your dealer for a tune-up and they remove your engine? Bummer.[/citation]

That's not even close to the same thing. The iPhone 3G's lack of speed is due to to using obsolete hardware to power a contemporary OS. All Apple can do is improve the efficiency of the OS in an update. Hopefully there will be a 4.2 update in the future to provide another speed boost.

My brother was complaining to me about this last week. He was very frustrated by his Iphone 3 after the iOS 4 update since everything got crazy slow. He went ahead and upgraded though but his contract had just expired and he sold his iphone for $200 so he got out fine.

It's still crazy lame though.

They most certainly did cripple the 3G's with iOS4.... I spent hours on the phone pushing their techs to just ADMIT that the performance issue was caused by the OS update and they lie through their god damn teeth and make you jump through endless scripted bullshit routines suggesting it's bad OS load etc.

I'm veteran IT tech and have been jailbreaking/reloading iphones since they were release and definitely do not need their assistance to roll back the OS, I just wanted to see how far they would go to avoid taking responsibility for the issue.
