[citation][nom]f-14[/nom]yes virginia, they did sue toyota, yes they sued firestone, yes companies take out insurance on product lines hence why most of the have an underwriters labrotory seal as insruance companies make them get tested before insuring them.no they don't cancel their insurance policy, and yes they sue them, and every insruance provider has been hurting big time since 9/11 because of 9/11. they are still paying out of the nose to the benefactors of those insurance policies. hence all the rates hikes since then every year.[/citation]

[citation][nom]sykozis[/nom]Actually, yes.....this is common but rarely reported in the news. The auto insurance companies who paid out, were repaid.[/citation]

Thanks for the info, it is why I asked. Now I know. I don't know why i got downvoted for asking questions, i am sure I am not the only one who was curious. Yes, Google; but I was too pressed for time, just happened to read this and was quite puzzled. No hate, appreciate!

[citation][nom]Strider-Hiryu_79[/nom]But what happened to "it just works" ?! (/sarcarm)[/citation]

it stopped just working.
the laptop went O S---...
and created a fire so no one ever knew that it stopped just working.

It's hilarious how every single problem with Apple products is big news these days.

Maybe that's one of the reasons they redesigned MagSafe when they brought out the uni-body MacBook Pros.
MagSafe is awesome though. If Apple didn't have these things patented, all manufacturers would probably use something similar.

[citation][nom]wotan31[/nom]Unfortunately, the character limitation of these forums doesn't allow for listing all the fails of Microsoft Windows. The thousands of security flaws, millions of viruses, BSOD's, ping of death, Windows Mobile, Windows ME, Microsoft Bob, Vista, Kin, etc. etc.[/citation]
Too bad Apple has more security flaws that Microsoft. You you want a secure system them Windows and Mac OS isn't your answers.

BSOD? What about the kernel panic on the mac? Also almost all BSOD on windows 2000 onwards are related to other issues other than the OS itself. Issues like malfunctioning hardware. At least the kernel panic of windows provide some info on the problem unlike the kernel panic of the Mac OS that doesn't provide absolutely anything.

I don't know if you know this the ping of death attack also affected the Mac OS. Other affected OS include also Linux and Unix.

All companies have their failures or have you forgotten the Apple MessagePad, Cyberdog, Taligent, EWorld, Pippin,...

People are dumb about Apple. Their stuff is just made in China like every other piece of Electronics. When you consider how small the cable is, you can predict failure of these cables.

it seems that apple has major issues with their cables. the iphone/ipod chrger cables like to fray at the 30pin end, (happened to mine within a week i was careful with the cable never yanked or anything), and i have seen many eople with apple power adapters both with magsafe and the older round ones that have frayed ends at the connector. why does this happen? because apple's cables are missing something important. that little ridged rubber things that joins the cables to the connectors. aple deicded to ditch it because it sugly, and now its causing problems...

I am not saying there isn't any validity to these claims, however I have had a MBP for 4 years now with a mag safe, I have not noticed any overheating or heat stress of any kind on my magsafe, and there is some validity in Square_Head's comment. I have seen a lot of people that have their laptop power cords (from any manufacturer) twisted to beat all hell from not wrapping it up correctly. I would be willing to bet that most of these failures are due in part to the way users are wrapping and storing the chords. Before you all start calling me a fanboy just keep in mind that I use all three platforms equally (OS X, Windows, and Linux). Just remember I am not saying that this isn't an apple issue, just that it can also be the users fault as well.

[citation][nom]ohim[/nom]And to think that some ppl were bringing magsafe as a + in an apple vs pc war[/citation]

Actually, the newer Magsafe is far superior to the older one. The new one comes out of the computer at 90 degree angel, whereas the older one came straight out. As the photo shows, the older one was prone to suffering from a "Chinese crimp." There are few cords that will not suffer from such if not used properly. Put enough stress on any cable or abuse it, regardless of the manufacturer, and it will fail. Any intelligent consumer would see the crimp and cease to use it.

It is unfortunate that our society is so sue happy and refuses to use common sense.

How many of the people with negative posts have used a Mac with that connector? I've had one work and my home macbook pro with it... It's worked amazingly well since 2006 - and doesn't break the port on the laptop when it gets yanked, it pops off... I've also seen a plethora of friends who have beaten up their laptop's power port...

Almost every company has powerbrick recalls: http://support.dell.com/support/topics/global.aspx/support/adapter_recall/adapter_recall?c=us&l=en&s=gen

This is more stupid flamebait... And to the dude who said BSOD vs Kernel panics:

Not even close, I work in IT as well with both platforms... Mac's are not perfect, but by comparion have given me far fewer Kernel Panics vs BSODs... Windows has gotten better, but it's a 10 to 1 ratio at best even now Windows 7 vs OS X 10.6...

Why don't you guys start posting the recalls on Dell and other manufacturers? Why aren't you posting negative news on other manufacturers? This is turning into to the FOX news of the IT industry...

I'd love to see your source for those statistics. I'm not saying you're lying (well, not directly), but I have yet to personally see a Windows 7 BSOD. And if it were a 10 to 1 ratio, over 50 machines you'd think I'd have seen one. 😵

I also work at IT and like I said BSOD since windows 2000 onwards are very rare. Most of the time is because of hardware issues or driver/software issues. Only very rarelly is the OS to blame and many times it can be repared. The only thing microsoft failed till the appearence of windows 7 is providing decent tools to recover the OS in case of problems. If the BSOD was that common I would have ended my life long ago due to work related stress.

Ok, fair enough, do you work with a mac? both platforms?
