Thumbs up to everyone defending the Galaxy products. I can't wait for Galaxy S II, and I don't think that it's a "poor iPhone knock off", as someone said before. Galaxy S II hardware is already superior to the supposed hardware on iPhone 5. When Samsung learned of Apple planning to use a 1 GHz dual-core processor ("chip", as Apple calls it, trying to convince the customers that hardware is not so important, by getting them used to not calling things their proper names), they decided to use 1.2 GHz on Galaxy S II instead. That got Apple scared, because the SGS II is planned to be released in May and their iPhone 5 will only come out in 2012. And now they're just trying to delay the SGS II sales. Anyone who will get an iPhone over SGS II is a patented lunatic... SGS II is superior to any other phone on the market because of its hardware, and it's running the world's most flexible mobile OS - Android. I hope Samsung will crush Apple's childish claims... you cannot patent "innovative style"! As for me, Apple products never had any "style" - they're just overpriced outdated garbage. And for those who claim that SGS look similar to iPhone - have you ever even held SGS in your hand? I cannot say there's no resemblance to the iPhone at all, but I cannot say SGS was copied from the iPhone. I wanna see you try to make a thin touch-smartphone that doesn't look like iPhone at all! So far only Nokia pulled it off with their N8.

But it's fine for Apple to steal everything..... I'm starting to wish Xerox had just put Apple out of business when Apple blatantly stole the GUI and Mouse from Xerox...

Star Trek Next Generation showed thin touch screen tables WAY before Apple introduced the iPhone or iPad. Gene Roddenberry's estate should be the one suing Apple.

And here we go, 6 spam posts in a row. Amazing the tom's hardware IT staff seem to be unable to stop it. Thought toms we're supposed to be professionals!

Blocky icons with rounded corners is considered a technological development? Please, Apple, we know you understand "technology" better than that. This isn't a "technology" infringement suit, it's a "style" infringement suit.

Sadly, depending on the judge they get (if the lawyers allow it to go to court) Apple may win. Of course, that could lead to interesting new shapes in icons. I think I'll patent octagon shaped icons with both sharply pointed and rounded corners.

I hear that if this suit fails, Apple will sue over the name "Galaxy," as the Galaxy contains Apples, to which Apple has the sole trademark...

[citation][nom]chronicbint[/nom]Galaxy basically is a poor iPhone knock off.[/citation]
yes considering its 3.2x faster and costs 35% less.

[citation][nom]Kryan[/nom]so now apple owns "a field of square icons with rounded corners" ? and the general form of a phone? Fuck off, Apple. go die with your silly false prophet.my word, I'm normally not this aggro, but Crapple really know how to piss me off.[/citation]

Who came up with it before Apple? Most of you are idiots if you think a company cannot protect its cell phone OS! Many have copied Apple and thats why you see Apps and Androids that are basically clones of what Apple developed. Yeah, a Company develops a great phone OS and other companies look at it and take its best parts saving millions in development costs. Dont have to like Apple but get real!

wow you hardcore apple fanatics are entertaining. you must have a shine of Steve jobs right by you in your parents basement

this lawsuit is ridiculous. if apple wins they could sue everyone else if there web OS or device just looks 1% like an ipad/iphone. Its companies like apple that stop innovation completely

@robochump: Are you mad? Android doesn't copy iOS in any aspect, thank God! That's exactly why I hate Apple fanboys: how much thinking does it take to "come up" with rounded square icons? Firefox 4 is also using them - is Apple gonna sue Mozilla as well? And it doesn't take millions to develop a graphical interface for any OS... it just takes a few designers and some time, no advanced research needed. IMAO, Apple will have to sue everyone, because HTC Sensation and LG Optimus 2X also look similar to iPhone. BTW, iOS is the best? ROFLMAO =) For a loser who's afraid to tweak some settings, maybe (that's also the only reason why people jump to Mac from Windows). And what "best parts" did Android copy from Apple? Personally, I don't even consider how GUI looks to be a part of the OS, because in a proper OS that can be changed within seconds.
