[citation][nom]sporkimus[/nom]Does a day go by where Apple isn't complaining about something?[/citation]
they have to money and are doing very well....why not?

the late Steve Jobs was quoted as saying he'd do everything he could to destroy Android.

This makes me sad. What a pitiful conclusion to an amazing life. When he freely admitted to shamelessly stealing from the best, it is unfortunate that he dell victim to hypocrisy in the end.

Because this action seems to be motivated dominantly from Steve Jobs irrational hatred, I hope the judge in the case wakes up and either throws the case out or demands an extensive review of USPTO's procedures.

[citation][nom]willard[/nom]You mean Gates as in Bill Gates? The Bill Gates who isn't responsible for any recent litigation from Microsoft because he hasn't been CEO for twelve years now? The Bill Gates who has repeatedly shattered his own record for charitable donations, and is successfully campaigning among billionaires to get them to start donating too ($125,000,000,000 pledged so far)? The Bill Gates who was formerly the richest man in the world, but decided that he had too much money and is giving 95% of it away?Yeah, that guy sounds like an asshole. Shame on him for stepping away from the job that made him the richest man in the world and dedicating his life to giving it all back.[/citation]
You mean Melinda Gates, I assume. Without her Gates would not be the person he is today.

[citation][nom]primalgecko[/nom]They are the only true winners in these fights.[/citation]

I guarantee you they go out for beers after hours. Hell, they probably work together to get their superiors to sue. It's a conspiracy.

[citation][nom]burmese_dude[/nom]If you slide to unlock your home door, you'd better pay up Apple before they sue you. Or change your door lock.F Apple for life.[/citation]
Yeah, we will all have to watch out when we unchain our front doors. I heard crApple is going to sue all of us who have the sliding chain on our doors.

Shoot all the idiots buying apple products supporting this corporation on wasting shit loads of the world`s money on the most retarded suing

Let me get this straigt:
"This patent relates to the functionality that allows you to, for example, click on a phone number in an email to make a call or send a text"
Which is essentially a form of hyperlink that instead of going to a browser, can do other tasks aswell? How did Apple even manage to get that patent approved? That feature has existed in smartphones well before Apple joined...

They can ban all they want. Dont care if I cant find any in US. I'll just import it just as I always do.

Apple knows that they are out of ideas and the only way to make money is sue sue sue.

Apple suck @$$ big time. Soon they will failed miserably.

i wish the the slide lock makers and software developers who invented contacts list and address book would sue apple for this:
Apple is focusing on four patents for this suit: a "data tapping" patent, one for unified search (this one relates to Siri), a slide-to-unlock patent, and a word completion patent. According to FOSS Patents, three of these were granted in the last six months, and only the "data tapping" patent is a 'slam dunk' for Apple, as it has already succeeded with it in the ITC. This patent relates to the functionality that allows you to, for example, click on a phone number in an email to make a call or send a text.

Yet another article on how Apple is afraid of competition and squashes it not through a fair fight but by suing every company that even raises an iota of competition.

[citation][nom]NightLight[/nom]simple proposal: make all such patents only last for 1 year.after that, the technology becomes public use. The money is usually made by then anyway.[/citation]

no, need 2 different patents, 1 for tech, one for real world applications, like if you could make a car engine more efficient... tech patents become a no crap kind of thing a few years after issue, especially slide to unlock, who couldn't think of that?

however a mechanical patent, if you can one up your compediter by a large margin, than congrats to you, because it will most likely be a staple in the industry for years to come.

[citation][nom]nebun[/nom]actually Apple is correct.....they are the ones that made touch screen phones available to the masses....everyone else copied them....do you remember how many capable smartphone phones were before the iphone came out?...none....when i say capable i am referring to ease of use and small form factor[/citation]

Oh wow, you know, you are really wrong. I can think of a company called Handspring that made PDA's with mobile data and later voice capabilities based on Palm OS, Blackberry, HP and HTC with some others made great Windows CE and mobile phones. Those are just from memory... I'm sure just a little research will turn up some others.

The only special thing about the iPhone is that it came out right about the time that mobile data was becoming practical for the average Joe. After that fact Apple marketing, some clever features, and an app store were all it took to cause wide spread "ooh, what's that?" to happen in schools, offices, and supermarkets. Apple may have worked hard but they were far more lucky that the iPhone came out when it did. Truth be told all Palm or Microsoft needed to do at that time was open an app store and the mobile market would be drastically different from what we see today. That is why I consider the iPhone nothing special at all.
