Are gaming/workstation laptops worth the investment?

I've been on the market for a while now for a new laptop that can handle a few games, and a lot of production work (C4D, Maya, Premiere, AE, Graphic design).

I'm thinking of just using it to remotely access my PC, but, also use it offline when possible or needed.

I've allotted a 2K budget so far for one, but lately, I've been thinking of lower that significantly.

Does anyone know if it's worth it to invest in a good performance laptop? or a sub-1500 laptop enough?

Lately, I have been looking at custom laptops, that I can just buy, to my own liking. It's actually quite expensive.

Don't buy a laptop for this, you will be disappointed. Buy a desktop. Not only is the performance going to be worse the the screen size will be too small to use if you are a heavy multi tasker. If space is an issue you can always buy a sff pc which are smaller than normal towers but bigger and better than laptops.

I'm still of the belief that if you're going to be doing graphics, you can't beat a macbook pro with at least 8gb ram. The way I do this is by getting a used one on ebay. And before you freak out about the idea of getting a used laptop, let me just add that laptops have been around a while and MANY people can't handle any tech that is more than 18 months old. I've gotten insane macbook deals on ebay, and some of them include used software. (Frankly, photoshop has been pretty much perfect for years now.) So it'll be best for me to buy a sub 1500 or 1200$ laptop and invest more on my desktop then? I'd like to have something that can at least handle some good Photoshop and AI remote work, and just leave the 3D stuff for my desktop.

I've also decided that I'll wait for the holiday's to buy one. Save me a lot more money.

I'm actually on the fence on buying a Macbook, even though I know they're good. I have until the holiday's to save up, I should have made a decision by then.

And I'll need it for the next year and a half, so, I need something that won't give me any issues mid-way through. If any.

Is there a reason why you need a laptop?

I need it this December cuz I'll be traveling, but at the same time, I have a class. Also, I just need something to use when away from my desktop.

The best laptop that I know that is portable and powerful is the auros v17 the 17 inch model. This should be able to handle all the tasks and be more portable than drts. There are smaller models and their cooling is very good. Noise will only be the issue on the smaller models.

I would stay away from the mac if you use 3d packages as they don't respect display scaling.
