AST laptop password at boot needs bypassing, please help.

My AST laptop has a password after testing the ram and I need to bypass it, im pretty sure its a bios password and I have tried removing the internal battery but it hasnt worked, any advice? Its a 1994 ast ascentia 910n. Thanks
