Asus laptop wont turn on (no display and sound). I was just playing then suddenly it hanged. Then I shut it down by holding the power button and when it was off, I tried to turn it on again but it didn't. No display and no sound from the hard drive. No hard drive led even, only power and battery led. I tried taking out the ram (I have 4+4gb, took out the extra 4) but it still did not work. The battery is not removable. Please help me. My laptop is an Asus x556uqk

If even original drivers wont work from manufactor site with DDU then its probably solder under 940mx graphics chip or whole chip defective. You would need to disassembly and try to reflow it, that would make it work for a while but it will eventually fail anyway. You can still use intel HD graphics atleast.
Another option is to add external gpu, this might not work depending on your model but mostly yes.
Anyway if you want to invest more to this laptop like egpu, you need to disasssembly and clean all dust and change thermal paste for something like gc gelid extreme for cpu and gpu. You dont want motherboard destroyed by heat

Warranty status? try remove back cover and take battery out. After that press power button for 1minute or 30 sec. put battery back and assembly it.

this is your own risk if it voids warranty. Be careful when removing back panel and before getting battery out not to touch anything with metal cause motherboard has power in it when battery is in place

Hey Faggeti it did turn on this morning but it hanged again and about half the screen turned blue and the rest was black. Tried it two times and same result. Then I inserted a windows 8 installer and it prepared for automatic repair, then it displayed nothing (it still is turned on, just no characters or text whatsoever)

Press f2 rapidly on bootup. Can you get to bios and while there does it crash? You mean you inserted installation dvd and tried to boot from it and after automatic repair started screen went black?

If bsod or whatever black screen happens when you load into Windows or start startup repair / go safe mode = DRIVER ISSUE MIGHT BE
If you sometimes cant see ASUS screen when you bootup and cant get to bios/ crashes in bios = HARDWARE ISSUE

you might be using HD intel Graphics if your main gpu failed or bad drivers. Go device manager and upload picture what Graphics you have there and is it disabled ? download gpu z and send picture from it

yes its better to use normal uninstall can leave leftover files which interfere

download from here : https://www.asus.com/Laptops/ASUS-Vivobook-X556UQ/HelpDesk_Download/
Select your os and right system. Go VGA, SHOW ALL and select NVIDIA driver Graphics driver
download unzip and leave to desktop

Boot into safe mode and run DDU (select NVIDIA and run recommended clean and restart, ít will boot when done) go normal Windows and install your new drivers u just downloaded

So i just uninstalled it but when i try to install the drivers, it says it couldnt find compatible graphics hardware. In bios, the 940mx is still there but for some reason the driver still cant find it.
